--- IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ---

THE BISTRO IS CLOSING ON 31ST MARCH

I can’t quite believe I’m writing this, but after seven brilliant years, the Bistro is closing its doors at the end of the month.

As many of you will know, I fell on ice while walking the dog, but I am not healing as expected.  The reason is that I spend at least 14 hours a day on my feet, and my consultant has convinced me I need to take it easy.

I have LOVED running this place, and will miss so many things, particularly my excellent staff, our fabulous guests, cooking (which I love!) and the buzz and adrenalin of a busy restaurant.

But I need to prioritise mobility at this point, so will continue with physio, and do what I’m told (note to staff: don’t laugh).

It will seem to many people that this is a crazy time to shut up shop, when we are so busy, and reviews are consistently good, but I was only planning to do another two years, and this injury has just brought things forward.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us for all these years.  It has been an incredible experience for me to fulfil a lifelong dream of running my own restaurant.

WELCOME!

Bistro Citron Vert is in the former pit village of High Pittington in County Durham.  The 200-year-old sandstone building is surrounded by fields - the perfect place to relax and enjoy some beautiful scenery.

Cary Kayll is the cook and owner. The menu is traditional French and European bistro fare, with some modern dishes introduced from time to time.

We use local, seasonal ingredients, and our aim is to ensure all our dishes are tasty and unfussy. The atmosphere here is definitely relaxed, and we have an excellent French wine list to complement the menu perfectly.
